Kigali, June 5,2026 — Huawei has unveiled a new suite of artificial intelligence-powered digital transformation and cybersecurity solutions for Rwanda, signaling a major push to help businesses and public institutions harness AI while strengthening protection against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
Speaking at an event in Kigali on Thursday, Huawei executives said the company is focusing on integrating AI across cloud services, enterprise operations, public services, and network infrastructure, arguing that the next phase of Rwanda’s digital growth will depend on how effectively organizations can adopt and secure AI technologies.
A key announcement centered on cybersecurity. Huawei said its AI-enabled security systems are capable of detecting up to 95 percent of previously unknown threats, a capability designed to help organizations respond to a rapidly evolving cyber landscape where traditional security tools often struggle to identify new attack patterns.

The company emphasized that AI is no longer a future technology but an immediate business necessity, with applications ranging from intelligent data management and network optimization to automation, predictive analytics, and digital public services.
Huawei also highlighted the growing role of cloud computing and intelligent infrastructure in supporting Rwanda’s digital ambitions. Company officials said the convergence of AI, cloud technologies, and advanced connectivity will create new opportunities for innovation, productivity, and economic growth across sectors including government, finance, healthcare, education, and manufacturing.
The announcement comes at a time when Rwanda is positioning itself as one of Africa’s leading digital economies. The country has invested heavily in broadband connectivity, digital public services, innovation ecosystems, and emerging technologies, while policymakers increasingly view artificial intelligence as a strategic tool for economic competitiveness.
Huawei said successful AI adoption will require more than technology investments. The company stressed the importance of digital skills development, workforce training, and cybersecurity preparedness to ensure organizations can deploy AI responsibly and securely.
While the event focused on the future, it also marked an important milestone for Huawei in Rwanda. The company has operated in the country for two decades, playing a significant role in telecommunications infrastructure development, ICT skills programs, and digital transformation initiatives. However, Thursday’s message was less about celebrating the past and more about defining the next chapter one in which artificial intelligence, trusted digital infrastructure, and cybersecurity become central pillars of Rwanda’s digital economy.
For Huawei, the bet is clear: the future of digital transformation in Rwanda will be powered by AI, but its success will depend on whether organizations can innovate while staying secure.
