Nairobi, 13th March 2026 — ZMR, a leading African technology company specializing in smart consumer devices, has launched its groundbreaking “Touch Motor” in Nairobi today, a smart pod-based system designed for Africa’s tech-savvy youth. The launch event showcased a device that blends mobility, technology, and social connectivity, offering young urban users a unique, interactive experience that goes beyond conventional personal transportation.
Speaking at the event, a ZMR regional executive said, “Touch Motor was designed with the African urban youth in mind it’s not just about mobility, it’s about identity, interaction, and convenience. We want our users to feel empowered while staying connected to the world around them.”
The Touch Motor features a detachable front back pod structure, a reusable battery module, a 2.4-inch full touch display, and Bluetooth connectivity to a companion app that integrates social features and loyalty programs. It is marketed as a lifestyle product as much as a mobility device, aiming to merge technology with daily convenience.

ZMR plans to roll out Touch Motor first in Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa, focusing on major urban centers. Retail and partner networks will handle distribution, making the device widely accessible across the continent.
Industry observers note that the launch represents a growing trend of consumer-oriented, technology-driven products entering African markets, reflecting the continent’s potential as a hub for innovation tailored to local lifestyles. “This launch signals the start of a new era for smart, interactive mobility solutions in Africa,” said Mulambo Haimbe, Zambia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The Nairobi launch allowed attendees, including tech enthusiasts, influencers, and media representatives, to get hands-on experience with the device. Many praised the intuitive design, customizable features, and interactive app, calling it “fun, modern, and distinctly African in its approach to technology.”
With the launch of Touch Motor, ZMR is positioning itself as a pioneer in Africa’s smart pod market, combining mobility, technology, and lifestyle in a way that speaks directly to the continent’s digitally connected youth. The company says this is just the beginning, with plans for further innovation and expanded reach across the continent.
