Juba- The Chinese Embassy in South Sudan has donated hundreds of textbooks and scholastic materials to the China Friendship Secondary School in Juba. This initiative, part of the school’s “Chinese Day” celebration, underscores China’s ongoing commitment to supporting education in South Sudan.

Established in 2011 with assistance from the Chinese government, the China Friendship Secondary School has been instrumental in providing quality education to South Sudanese students. Over the years, the school has graduated numerous learners, many of whom have gone on to hold significant positions in the country.

Cirisio Zakaria Lado, Minister for General Education in Central Equatoria State, remarked, “We have graduated many learners with the help of China, and this proves the strong relationship between our two countries.”
Nelson Wani Dere, the headmaster of the school, highlighted the impact of the institution on students from humble backgrounds, stating, “We have graduated many students, of whom some have become ministers, director generals, and university graduates. If it were not for the Chinese government, we would see some of these students out of school or resorting to crime.”

Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan, Ma Qiang, emphasized China’s dedication to educational development in the country. He noted that China has compiled and distributed over three million primary and secondary school textbooks for South Sudanese students and has assisted over 400 South Sudanese teachers by facilitating their training opportunities in China.
This donation is part of China’s broader efforts to support South Sudan’s educational sector, including the construction of schools and the provision of teaching materials. Such initiatives contribute to the strengthening of bilateral relations and the promotion of sustainable development in South Sudan.
