Beijing ,March 21, 2026 —Chinese Vice President Han Zheng is set to embark on a multi-nation diplomatic tour across Africa from March 22 to 30, with scheduled visits to Kenya, South Africa, and Seychelles, according to China Daily.
The trip comes at the invitation of senior leaders in each of the three countries. In Kenya, Han will meet Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, underscoring continued engagement between Beijing and one of its key East African partners. Kenya has been central to China’s infrastructure investments under the Belt and Road Initiative, with major transport projects shaping regional connectivity. Discussions are expected to focus on trade, infrastructure financing, and economic cooperation.

The visit will then move to South Africa, where Han is scheduled to hold talks with Deputy President Paul Mashatile. As Africa’s most industrialized economy and a member of BRICS, South Africa plays a critical role in China’s global economic strategy. Talks are likely to cover energy collaboration, industrial development, and coordination on multilateral platforms.
In Seychelles, Han will meet Vice President Sebastien Pillay, highlighting China’s interest in strengthening ties with strategically positioned island nations. Seychelles’ location along key Indian Ocean routes makes it an important partner in maritime cooperation, climate initiatives, and sustainable development.
The tour reflects China’s broader diplomatic push to reinforce its presence across Africa through high-level engagement. Observers say the visit signals Beijing’s intent to deepen long-term partnerships across the continent, at a time when global powers are increasingly competing for influence in Africa.
