Shenzen, China, June 6,2026 — Rwanda’s growing reputation as a hub for digital innovation received another boost after the country’s students delivered an impressive performance at the Huawei ICT Competition 2025–2026 Global Final in Shenzhen, China.
Three Rwandan teams earned places in the international finals, competing alongside some of the world’s most talented young technology enthusiasts in a contest that attracted more than 220,000 participants from over 100 countries and regions.
The teams returned with two major awards, securing one First Prize and one Second Prize, a result that highlights the increasing competitiveness of Rwanda’s ICT talent on the global stage.
The achievement comes as Rwanda continues to invest heavily in digital skills development, innovation, and technology-driven education. Over the past decade, the country has positioned itself as a leader in Africa’s digital transformation agenda, promoting initiatives aimed at preparing young people for careers in emerging technologies.

For the students, the competition provided an opportunity to test their knowledge against peers from around the world in a highly demanding environment. Their success reflects not only individual excellence but also the growing capacity of Rwanda’s educational institutions to equip learners with practical technology skills that meet international standards.
