Beijing, China- Chinese President Xi Jinping has called on both China and Egypt  as ancient civilizations  to deepen exchanges and mutual learning among their peoples, and to contribute their civilizational strength to building a community with a shared future for humanity.

In a congratulatory message to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on the occasion of the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, Xi extended his “sincere congratulations” to Sisi and the Egyptian people, and expressed his belief that the museum will leave a profound mark on Egypt’s cultural history and play an important role in preserving and passing on the ancient Egyptian civilization.

Xi noted that China and Egypt share a time-honoured friendship and that their comprehensive strategic partnership has flourished in recent years. “The two countries have enjoyed vibrant and diverse people-to-people and cultural exchanges,” he said, adding that a grand exhibition of ancient Egyptian artifacts was successfully held at the Shanghai Museum and that a joint China-Egypt archaeological team is now working together beneath the pyramids at Saqqara to explore the mysteries of ancient Egyptian civilization.

“As the world today is undergoing accelerated transformation unseen in a century, China and Egypt, both ancient civilizations, should continue to deepen exchanges and mutual learning between civilizations, inject fresh impetus into the development of their comprehensive strategic partnership, and contribute the strength of civilizations to the building of a community with a shared future for humanity,” he added.

China and Egypt stand out as two of the world’s earliest great civilizations—China with its continuous five-millennia heritage, and Egypt with its iconic Nile-based ancient civilization. Through their renewed engagement, both nations stand to gain significantly: Egypt deepens its global cultural footprint by sharing its antiquities and heritage expertise, while China broadens its cultural diplomacy and fosters deeper people-to-people connections.

Their cooperation thus becomes a vehicle for mutual enrichment, tapping civilisational legacies to forge new pathways of exchange, innovation and shared future
