Beijing,June 19, 2026 — China has pledged a new round of emergency humanitarian assistance to African countries affected by ongoing Ebola outbreaks, reinforcing its commitment to supporting the continent’s public health response.
Speaking on Wednesday, Tang Ying, spokesperson for the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), announced that the latest aid package will build on previous assistance efforts and focus on strengthening epidemic prevention and control measures in affected regions.
The support includes continued assistance to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), where health authorities continue to combat Ebola outbreaks, as well as the delivery of a new batch of disease prevention and control supplies to Uganda. China will also maintain its support for the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC)to enhance the institution’s capacity to coordinate regional disease surveillance and response efforts.
According to Tang, the assistance is aimed at helping African nations contain the spread of Ebola and strengthen their ability to respond effectively to public health emergencies. The aid package underscores China’s ongoing cooperation with African countries in the health sector and its broader commitment to supporting disease prevention initiatives across the continent.
The Ebola virus remains a significant public health challenge in parts of Africa, requiring sustained international cooperation, rapid response measures, and adequate medical resources to prevent further transmission.
China’s latest contribution is expected to bolster ongoing efforts by national governments, health agencies, and international partners working to bring the outbreaks under control and protect vulnerable communities
