Addis Ababa, Ethiopia- Ambassador Jiang Feng, Head of the Chinese Mission to the African Union, recently met with H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the AU Commission, in Addis Ababa. During their meeting, they discussed deepening China-Africa cooperation, particularly in the context of the upcoming G20 Summit. Both sides expressed support for South Africa’s presidency of the G20 Johannesburg Summit and emphasized the importance of strengthening exchanges and cooperation on international affairs.

Ambassador Jiang highlighted China’s commitment to supporting Africa’s modernization and development, noting the positive outcomes of the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Summit. He reiterated China’s willingness to work closely with the African Union to implement initiatives that align with Africa’s development goals.
Chairperson Youssouf expressed gratitude for China’s long-standing support and reaffirmed the African Union’s commitment to enhancing its strategic partnership with China. He welcomed China’s initiatives that align with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), emphasizing the shared vision of mutual respect and prosperity.
This meeting underscores the growing collaboration between China and the African Union, reflecting a shared commitment to addressing global challenges and promoting sustainable development. As both parties prepare for the G20 Summit, their strengthened partnership is poised to play a significant role in shaping international discourse on development and cooperation.
