Cairo-Egypt has reiterated its firm support for China’s one-China principle and expressed readiness to stand with Beijing on the global stage, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said following a phone call with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, on Tuesday.
The two diplomats discussed a wide range of issues, from deepening bilateral cooperation to regional and international developments. Wang underscored the strength of China-Egypt relations, noting that the two countries are comprehensive strategic partners guided by close ties between President Xi Jinping and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
He called on both sides to use the upcoming 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations to elevate cooperation and coordination in multilateral affairs, with an eye toward advancing shared interests and contributing to global peace and development.

Abdelatty, for his part, emphasized Egypt’s endorsement of the one-China principle, saying Cairo firmly opposes foreign interference in China’s internal affairs and regards Taiwan as an inalienable part of Chinese territory. He also expressed Egypt’s eagerness for closer high-level exchanges and deeper practical collaboration with Beijing in the years ahead.
The conversation also touched on the ongoing conflict in Gaza, with Abdelatty briefing Wang on recent developments and commending China’s proposals for resolving the Palestinian issue and its announcement of new assistance for the Palestinian people. Both ministers stressed the urgency of sustaining a fragile ceasefire and working toward peace and reconstruction in the region.
The call reflects a broader alignment between Cairo and Beijing as both capitals seek to strengthen strategic partnerships, enhance diplomatic cooperation, and coordinate on key global matters in an increasingly complex international landscape.
